This isn’t the first time that Tata is working on an electric hatchback. In fact, the UK-based technical centre had previously developed a Tata Bolt electric car. Though the Bolt electric never made it to production, it proved that the company had enough technological resources to develop a full electric vehicle. And with the electric car market currently at an all time high, Tata has decided to bring an electric version of its best-selling car – the Tiago.
As a result, the Tata Tiago electric is expected to be heavily inspired by the Bolt EV. The decision to build an electric version of the Tiago makes sense as the car is built on a low-cost platform, which will help in neutralising the high price of the electric powertrain. Moreover, the Tiago has already set up a huge customer base in the country. It is one of the biggest successes of Tata Motors in the recent past. As a result, marketing an electric version of the Tiago will be a lot easier than doing so for a Bolt electric.

This can thus help the automaker to bring in more customers to the bandwagon by offering an affordable electric hatchback like the Tata Tiago.
