Maruti Suzuki has been recording double-digit annual growth rates for the past 5 years. It is also expected to record a healthy growth during the ongoing fiscal. This speaks a lot about a carmaker that already rules around half of the entire Indian passenger car market. Despite various new competitors entering its space, Maruti Suzuki is aiming to build further on this exponential growth and is thus planning to launch various new products in the Indian market.

Specific details about which new Maruti cars will be launched in the country aren’t available yet. However, speculations suggest that the 4 new products will include the new-gen Ertiga, a facelifted version of the Ciaz, a new-gen WagonR and a new model that will be placed between the Celerio and Ignis. Moreover, there are chances of the Swift Sport, a high-performance version of the regular model, to also be launched in the country in the next 12 months. With the Swift and Dzire already receiving their respective new-generation models, Maruti has a fresh portfolio of cars under the 10 lakh rupee price bracket.

Maruti Suzuki’s Senior Executive Director (Marketing & Sales) – Mr. R.S. Kalsi, declined to comment on the upcoming new cars. However, he did mention that the company has experienced a growth of 15.3% in the April – December period of 2017. Moreover, new launches like the Swift and Dzire are further expected to boost sales during this year. As a result, the company is positive for recording its 6th consecutive double-digit annual growth.

Mr. Kalsi also pointed out that the passenger car industry’s average growth is currently at 8.13%. This low growth has largely been dominated by the economic setbacks that came in the market after Demonetisation and GST implementation. However, Maruti claims to have largely been unaffected by these slowdowns and is expecting to continuously surpass the industry’s average growth rate.
