Benelli has launched the Leoncino 250 in India at a price of Rs. 2.5 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most affordable motorcycle from Benelli in India. The Benelli Leoncino 250 is currently the manufacturer’s only offering in the quarter-litre segment. It can be taken as the replacement of the TNT25 that was discontinued in 2018. Deliveries for the Leoncino 250 will commence from November 2019.
As its name suggests, the Leoncino 250 is a smaller iteration of the Leoncino 500 that was recently launched in the country. It thus borrows most of its design elements from its elder sibling. However, the steel trellis frame, swingarm and suspension setup is exclusive to the Leoncino 250. Also on offer is a new all-digital instrument cluster and standard dual channel ABS. The naked motorcycle gets 110/70 R17 tyre at the front and a 150/60 R17 tyre at the rear.
The Benelli Leoncino 250 draws power from a 249 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that puts out 26 PS and 21 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 6-speed gearbox.
As of now, there are no other 250 cc scramblers on offer in India. As a result, the Benelli Leoncino 250 offers tremendous potential for the manufacturer in the country. Its nearest competitors are the KTM 390 Duke and the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
