Ather Energy has unveiled the Series 1 Collectors’ Edition electric scooter in India. This new model is based on the 450X and gets a new paint scheme and some other cosmetic tweaks. Ather had first announced its plans to launch the Collectors’ Edition in January this year while unveiling the regular 450X.
The Ather Collectors’ Edition Series 1 comes with a gloss paint colour scheme with a touch of golden metallic flakes. There are a few red inserts thrown around to make the scooter look more sporty. The biggest talking point of the design of the Ather Series 1 Collectors’ Edition is the use of near-transparent body panels. Ather claims that this is the first time that such a material has been used on a production two-wheeler.
No mechanical changes have been made to the Ather Series 1 Collectors’ Edition. As a result, it is powered by the same 3.3kW/6kW (continuous/peak) electric motor that produces 26Nm of peak torque. The scooter is capable of accelerating from 0-40 km/h in 3.3-seconds and can achieve a top speed of 80 km/h. The electric scooter comes with a claimed range of 70 km.
Deliveries of the Ather Series 1 Collectors’ Edition will start from November. However, as of now, the scooter will come with regular body panels instead of the translucent panels. Ather is yet to get the dyes ready for producing the body panels. As a result, the company will install these panels in May, 2021 at no cost to the customer.
