The compact SUV segment in India has been booming for quite some time. However, despite being the second largest manufacturer in the country, Hyundai India hasn’t yet entered this segment with a contender. This is about to change as the company is now in the final stages of development of its first-ever compact SUV – the Hyundai Venue. The company will globally unveil this new model on April 17, 2019, at the New York International Auto Show.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Hyundai Venue Compact SUV:
Hyundai Venue India Launch
The Venue compact SUV will be globally unveiled at the New York International Auto Show on April 17. However, the showcased model will be a US-spec variant. The company will also be unveiled an India-spec model on the same date, for which the media has already been invited.
However, it is worth noting that the aforementioned event will only be an unveiling of the compact SUV. Official India launch of the Hyundai Venue is likely to be scheduled sometime in May 2019.
Hyundai Venue Expected Price
The compact SUV marketplace is already a tightly-woven segment. There are various competitors that offer amazing value at very aggressive prices. Models like the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300 and Ford EcoSport have forced every new entrant to be offered at very competitive prices in order to gain any market share. Additionally, the segment leader – Maruti Vitara Brezza, hugely benefits from the brand image of its parent company.
As a result, Hyundai will need to make sure that the Venue is launched at fairly competitive prices. While the company can charge a premium for its brand image and quality of parts, the Venue can be a failure if charged too close to the Hyundai Creta.
We thus expect the Hyundai Venue price range to start at close to Rs. 7.5 lakh and go up to Rs. 10.5 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom).
|Hyundai Venue Variants||Expected Price (ex-showroom)|
|Hyundai Venue Base Model||Rs. 7.5 lakh|
|Hyundai Venue Top Model||Rs. 10.5 lakh|
